This training covers your rights and responsibilities under Educuras's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). It includes workplace violence prevention and home visit safety procedures that apply to all patient-contact staff.
Every Educuras employee has specific workplace rights. Educuras is committed to upholding them, and you are entitled to exercise them without retaliation.
Educuras maintains a written Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). The IIPP has three parts, all of which apply to you.
- Assist in identifying hazards in your work environment
- Report accidents, injuries, and near-misses to your supervisor immediately
- Follow all safe work practices for your role
- Only perform tasks you are trained and authorized to perform
- Participate in required safety training, including this annual refresher
ECM Care Managers work directly with members in their homes and communities. This creates a meaningful risk of Type 2 workplace violence — violence directed at employees by members, clients, or accompanying persons.

- Known or reported history of violence or threats
- Substance use (disclosed or observed)

- 1Review the member's referral, diagnosis, and prior visit notes for risk indicators.
- 2Confirm the visit address and do a basic neighborhood safety check.
- 3Notify your supervisor of any known concerns before proceeding.
- 4Text or call your supervisor with: member initials, address, and expected end time.
- 5Confirm your phone is charged and accessible.
- Maintain awareness of exits - position yourself near the door
- Keep your phone and personal items accessible at all times
- De-escalate verbally if a member or household member becomes agitated - do not raise your voice
- Never position yourself where a member could block your exit
- Trust your instincts - if something feels unsafe, end the visit and leave
- Visible weapons or credible threats by household members
- Strong odor suggesting drug manufacturing or dangerous chemicals
- Uncontrolled aggressive animals blocking entry
- Household members are actively intoxicated and behaving aggressively
- You feel unsafe for any reason
